Overview of JMARS
Open JMARS. Use the following short introduction (below) to JMARS to get you familiar with the basic structure and function of the JMARS tool. Then, check your understanding with the quiz below. A little practice helps a lot. For a more detailed introduction go here.
Layer Manager: Datasets, analysis tools. Focus panel shows details.
Search: Click on icon to type name. Click to access bookmarks and Landmarks. Re-click to close.
Main Menu: Drop down menus for viewing, options, help, etc.
Toolbar: Cursor, Pan, measure, etc. Click cursor tool to exit.
Zoom: ppd = pixels/degree
Main View: Displays visual data from layers
Movable Separator: Click and drag line to resize.
Main Viewing Window: image
Panner View: wide-angled view of Main View
Overlays: Map keys and names
Cursor Location: Lat, Lon
Quick Access: Tool short cuts
