Lessons: Mine and a few I found on line.

Current as of 6/9/2022

Other lessons

  1. Vetted Middle School Resources

  2. Nasa has many activities. Here is one lab on craters called: Activity 3: What Can Craters Tell Us About a Planet?

  3. Mars for Earthlings 2012 This is a collection of 23 modules for undergraduates but can be adapted for HS. Particularly appropriate is the introductory Module, and The Remote Sensing Module

  4. Geologic Mapping on Mars is a more advanced activity but reveals how JMARS can be used to explore deeper geology skills.

  5. Red Rocks 2019 Choose the Red Rocks interactive activity. Click "Explore Now" to view the activity. Click "Educators Resources" to see linked standards.

  6. MSIP This is a well vetted and used JMARS research adventure for both middle school and high school students. It has an excellent beginning activity that acquaints students with the geomorphology of Mars using JMAR images.  I believe the introductory material is transferable to other lessons and activities besides research. The pacing guides recommend 20-30 days in traditional schedules. The project and tutorials are based on an earlier version of JMARS.

  7. National Geographic Society "Mars Globe Educator Guide": a downloadable set of 22 Claim, Evidence, Reasoning (CER) and Argument-Driven Inquiry (ADI) structured activities, which although don't reference using JMARS, seems to be a good match.https://media.nationalgeographic.org/assets/file/Mars_EdGuide_Final_111016.pdf
